LIVERPOOL · BOOTLE
Damp proofing in Liverpool.
Liverpool and Bootle are just across the Mersey from Heswall, and after the Wirral they are where NTB does the most work. Every job starts the same way: establish what is moving water into the wall, then repair that.

LOCAL HOMES
Terraces, cellars and let homes.
Across Liverpool and Bootle, three problems account for most of the calls we get. Each one is repaired differently.

01 — RISING
Solid-brick terraces
Walton, Anfield and Kensington are row after row of Victorian terraces in solid brick. A tide mark along the hallway skirting is the usual sign that the original damp proof course has given up.
Rising damp & DPC

02 — TANKING
Cellars under the house
From the Georgian Quarter to the terraced streets, plenty of Liverpool houses sit over a cellar. Turning one into a usable room means holding water back under pressure, which is a job for tanking.
Basement & cellar tanking

03 — CONDENSATION
Mould in a let home
A lot of Liverpool’s housing is rented, and damp and mould in a let home is a repair the landlord has to make. If it is condensation we say so, and specify ventilation rather than a treatment the house does not need.

SMALL DAMP PATCH IN LIVING ROOM
We had a persistent damp smell in our living room and were concerned it might be a serious issue. However, Nigel came out the same day, assessed the situation thoroughly, and reassured us that it was a minor issue we could handle ourselves. He didn't try to upsell unnecessary work and didn't charge us a penny for his time and advice. It's rare to find such honesty and integrity in this industry, so we will definitely be hiring him again if we need him ! Highly recommended!

DAMP UNDER BEDROOM WINDOW
We are very happy with the job. The guys turned up on time. They were both polite and friendly. The room was left clean and all rubbish removed. Would definitely use them again

QUESTIONS
Asked about this every week.
Will a dehumidifier fix it?
It will manage condensation while it is running. It does nothing about water entering through masonry, and it will not dry a wall that is being resupplied with moisture from the ground or from outside.
Can I decorate straight away?
No. Fresh render holds a lot of water and needs to dry through before it will take paint. Emulsion applied too early seals the moisture in and then flakes off, which is the most common reason people think a repair has failed.
Does the plastering come with it?
Yes. Plastering is half of what we do, so the wall is taken back, treated and replastered by the same team. You are not left finding a plasterer afterwards.
Is the work guaranteed?
All damp work is guaranteed for 30 years, and an insurance-backed option is available. We carry £1 million public liability insurance.

CONTACT
Send a photo of the wall.
Quickest route is WhatsApp with a photograph of the affected wall and, if you can, one of the outside face of the same wall. That is often enough for an initial view before a survey is booked.
